Coast Guard responding to reported vessel fire

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coast Guard and the Nassau Sound Sheriff’s department are responding to a reported vessel fire in the Nassau Sound Wednesday.

The Nassau County Sheriff’s department received a report from a good Samaritan that heavy smoke is surrounding a 19-foot blue and white pleasure craft.

A 25-foot rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Mayport, Fla., is en-route to investigate the situation.

It is unknown if anyone is aboard the vessel.
